BElgian tax resident VS salary in Estonia

Hello everyone,

I’m currently a temporary tax resident in Canada with a work permit that ends in September 2025. I’m looking to clarify my situation, as my next step is to work from anywhere, mostly in North America. After some thought, I’ve narrowed down my options to either:

1.	Have a parent company that pays me a salary in Belgium, or
2.	Set up a company in Estonia that pays me a salary in Estonia.

This parent company must be able to invest in and own some (or most) of my other businesses, which are mainly located in North America—primarily in Canada.

The question is: would it be better to use my Belgian company as the parent, or to create an Estonian company to serve as the parent?

Naturally, I also need to pay myself a reasonable salary.

Thank you in advance for your insights!

That’s a really great question. @benjamin.c.robinson would you happen to have a few insights on this, being an Estonian e-resident working mostly out of North America?
